Jessica Griggs - HR internship

I have completed writing up my interview questions and after a few formatting changes, they have had the stamp of approval from my supervisor. All together, I managed to come up with 10 questions for hiring new nurses. My supervisor asked me to add an initial impression inventory at the end of the interview for the interviewers to fill out, so I did that as well. I also provide a scoring key as well suggestions for hiring decisions based on the score the applicant receives from the interview.

Overall, my supervisor was extremely pleased with what I have developed here and has since called the Chief Nursing Officer to schedule a time for me to come into their next nursing supervisor meeting and present my project to them. I am very excited about this opportunity for I feel by explaining the benefits of implementing a standardized interview across departments will help them to better understand the importance of doing so. Once these nurse supervisors better understand what I've been doing here, the more likely I feel they will be to use the interview to aide in their hiring decisions.

This week, I have worked on other HR functions as well, such as running background checks, updating files, researching compensation for different positions as well as helping new employees sign up for benefits. Although I have been here a while now, I still feel like everyday I am learning something new! I guess that's the joy of HR...it never gets boring with so much to do!
