Hello everyone. My name is David Morgan, and I am currently enrolled in the I/O psychology practicum at UB. As one of the requirements for my practicum in I/O, I am supposed to provide periodical updates about my progress on the I/O Listserv. I am looking forward to keeping those interested informed about the advancement of my project. I welcome any comments or questions that you may have in the weeks ahead.

I am currently working with the Maryland Department of Budget and Management (DBM) and the Department of Juvenile Services (DJS) to update a 2-year-old exam for entry-level candidates. There are seven entry-level classifications within a single job family. My team has already begun the process by creating a job analysis survey (relevant to all seven classifications), which includes 96 task statements, 99 KSAO statements, and demographic information as well. A large amount of respondents are anticipated because there are many SMEs currently working throughout the state. However, the receipt of the completed surveys might take some time given the limitation of using the traditional mailing method.

Ou main goal is to create a fully-functional [written] instrument to assist DJS in selecting qualified candidates for these mission-critical positions. I will let you know more about this project as it unfolds.
