Subject: Reminder Email -- Internship Letter to Program Heads

This is a reminder email from the Human Resources Research Organization
(HumRRO) about the offering of a summer internship. Internships are available in Industrial-Organizational Psychology (or related fields) and Educational Measurement and Assessment to graduate students currently enrolled in full-time masters or Ph.D. accredited programs. The traditional internship at HumRRO is a paid, full-time opportunity occurring in the summer in the Alexandria, VA or the Louisville, KY offices. Internship applications may also be considered for our Minneapolis, MN office or for non-traditional internships (e.g., longer duration or non-summer
internships) based on project needs and sufficient justification from applicants.

An intern will serve as a research assistant/associate on one or more projects. HumRRO is looking for a responsible, motivated team player with strong technical and communication skills to assist in our contract research activities. HumRRO project directors will provide technical supervision and mentoring to help make the most of the intern's exposure to and experience with our applied research setting. Selection is competitive and will be based on a review of application materials and references for evidence of research promise, academic achievement, and writing ability.

Applications for a summer internship are due by February 1, 2010, which is a full month earlier than we have previously set our application deadline.
Applications must include: 1) a curriculum vitae/detailed resume and cover letter; 2) a one-page personal statement of career goals and internship interests; 3) official transcript(s) of graduate work; and 4) contact information for two references (i.e., the name, address, phone number, and e-mail address of each reference; letters of recommendation are not needed). For more information about HumRRO, the internship, and how students may apply, please visit our website at www.humrro.org or contact Jessica Terner at (703) 706-5687 or [log in to unmask]

Again, I encourage you to spread the news of HumRRO's internship opportunity to other faculty members and to promising graduate students if you haven’t done so already or, perhaps again, as a reminder to your students. For your convenience, I am attaching a file about this internship opportunity which you may electronically forward to faculty members and students for this purpose. I look forward to receiving applications from graduate students at your university.

Sincerely,
William J. Strickland, Ph.D.
President & CEO
Human Resources Research Organization (HumRRO)
