Hi everybody,

Tom and I would like to remind you that we are having the first CARMA Consortium Webcast for the 2007-2008 year on Friday, September 28, starting at 12:00 PM (EST) on Goodness of Fit and Structural Equation Models. The presenter is Dr. Jose Cortina from George Mason University.
For this presentation, we reserved a room (Academic Center 236, 12:00 to 1:30 PM). Hopefull you could be there!

Bellow is the abstract for the class.

Abstract - Fit indices are used to evaluate the degree to which a given structural equation model is consistent with a given set of data. Unfortunately, there are dozens of indices from which to choose and little guidance for distinguishing among them. The purpose of this presentation is to introduce the audience to model fit and its underpinnings and to suggest a process for selecting the fit indices and other information on which to base conclusions.

Jose M. Cortina is Professor in the I/O Psychology program at George Mason University. Professor Cortina received his Ph.D. in 1994 from Michigan State University. His recent research has involved topics in meta-analysis, structural equation modeling, and the use of personality to predict job performance. His work has been published in journals such as the Journal of Applied Psychology, Personnel Psychology, Psychological Bulletin, Organizational Research Methods, and Psychological Methods. He currently serves on the editorial boards of four journals and is an Associate Editor of the Journal of Applied Psychology. Dr. Cortina was honored by SIOP with the 2001 Ernest J. McCormick Award for Distinguished Early Career Contributions and by the Research Methods Division of the Academy of Management with the 2004 Robert O. McDonald Best Paper Award. He is a fellow of SIOP and APA.

The background reading's references and PowerPoint slides are currently available. Only registered CARMA Website Users can access this information. Registered users can access the material by following the available information at http://www.pubinfo.vcu.edu/carma/AccessingWebcastReadingsAndSlidesasp or, after logging in to the CARMA Website User Area, by clicking on the link "Webcast Readings and PowerPoint Slides".

DIRECT MESSAGES FROM CARMA.

We also would like to remind you that that it is possible to access the recorded videos and accompanying PowerPoint slides from several past CARMA lectures offered as part of our 2004-2005, 2005-2006, and 2006-2007 Webcast Programs. These recorded lectures are available to faculty and students at your institution, at no additional charge, because your school is a member of our CARMA Webcast Consortium. Twenty-six recorded webcast sessions, each of which is approximately one-hour long, are currently part of the video library. However, VCU's video server is being upgraded and the video library is not available at this time. We apologize for that and we will let you know as soon as the video library is available again.

The videos and slides are available to any person linked to your organization as long as they are registered CARMA Website Users and they use an email address provided by your organization. For example, if a person is a Virginia Commonwealth University student, he/she must first register as a CARMA Website User using their VCU email address (which always ends with vcu.edu). Any person may update his/her email address at any time using the "Update Email Address" link in the "CARMA Website User Area". Please, notice that every time the email address is changed, a new password is automatically generated and sent to the new email account. The password can be changed at any time using the link "Update Personal Information / Password" under the "User Menu" column on the "CARMA Website User Area".

Once a potential viewer is a registered CARMA Website User, they can obtain access to the videos and slides by using the link on the left navigation bar and accessing the "CARMA Website User Area". Next, they should click on the "Video Library" link under the "User Menu" column. This step will lead them to a directory of all recorded sessions that are available.
