POSITION:          

Part-Time Director of Human Resources - Smarterville, Inc, the proud maker of Hooked on Phonics products, is looking for a Part-Time Director of Human Resources for their Baltimore corporate office.  This position is 30 – 32 hours per week and will report directly to the Chief Executive Officer. 

 

 

We are seeking a human resources professional who is enthusiastic and will provide outstanding support in the key functional areas listed below.

 

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

 

·         Develop and administer compensation and incentive programs for the company including executive comp, sales comp and key employee retention. 

 

·         Manage all employee benefits to include annual renewals, employee communications and administration.

 

·         Create and administer a company-wide performance management system. 

 

·         Manage the recruitment process for all positions including development of job descriptions, participation in the recruiting process, culture assessment, and final selection process. 

 

·         Develop and manage the HR operating budget.

 

·         Participate in the Senior Management Team and be a strategic partner to understand the long-term and short-term business goals and translate into HR initiatives.

 

·         Partner with CEO in planning and executing all Board-related activities to include board meetings, calls and general correspondence with Board members and observers.

 

·         Counsel and support employees and management in employee relations issues.  Actively work with employment attorney as necessary to prevent lawsuits.  Facilitate internal issue resolution.

 

·         Provide input to management on policies, procedures, administrative processes and strategic initiatives.

 

·         Partner with management regarding organization development and other strategic issues as needed.

 

·         Organize company events to promote team-building

 

·         Develop and maintain an effective network of partners that can provide resources in the areas of executive search, organizational development, business consultants, etc.

 

·         Analyze salary and budget data, creating spreadsheets and reports needed.

 

 

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES REQUIRED:

 

·         BS/BA degree in Human Resources or related field required. 

·         7+ years of HR experience

·         Strong background in performance management and tool development

·         Demonstrated knowledge and experience of HR practices and functional areas.

·         Excellent communication, organizational, interpersonal, time management, influencing and facilitation skills are essential. 

·         Ability to understand, interpret and implement HR concepts and best practices and handle highly confidential information and data effectively.

·         Must be proficient in Microsoft Office
