HR Manager (Linthicum, MD)

 

DHL Global Mail seeks experienced HR Manager with Manufacturing environment experience capable of operational metrics calculations (Cost Per Unit) as well as Retention Statistics.  We need someone who is operationally savvy.  Schedules variable workforce, walks the warehouse floor, conducts on-boarding sessions and monitors safety and security.  Seeking person who enjoys a challenge communicating with many levels and is HR functionally, administratively and operationally.  No paper pushers.

 

Excellent compensation package including good bonus potential plus great benefits for the person who can work two 3rd shifts per week in a flexible schedule.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

 

Planning & Administration

Plans, organizes, controls and executes all activities of the HR department; participates in developing department goals, objectives, and performance systems including the Key Performance Indicators (Days to Hire, Production Per Employee, Turnover Rate, HR cost effectiveness and information activities). Evaluates results of HR department in relation to its goals and objectives; recommends new approaches to effect continual improvements in efficiency of department and services performed.

Recommends changes to and implements personnel policies and procedures; maintains Employee Handbook on policies and procedures;

Conducts all HR internal audits and external agency audits and recommends necessary adjustments.

Prepares, recommends and maintains records and procedures for controlling personnel transactions and reporting personnel data changes of status.  Ensures all I-9 forms are complete and accurate for all current and past employees; monitors Associates Agency compliance.

Maintains terminal organization charts and employee directory.

Staffing

Develops and administers effective staffing plan taking into consideration availability, timing and cost of resources.

Coordinates recruitment efforts with hiring managers/supervisors, accepts resumes and applications, conducts interviews and assists with hiring decisions.

Identifies and works with outside employment agencies to insure qualified resources are available for peak work periods.

Administers typing tests, alpha-numeric pre-employment tests, as required.

Compensation & Benefits

Recommends, implements, and monitors terminal compensation practices.

Conducts and updates annual local salary surveys; rewrites and recommends job description and classification changes as necessary.

Coordinates employee benefits administration; conducts enrollment and open enrollment meetings; processes applications and changes.

Government Compliance

Serves as EEO specialist; develops and maintains affirmative action program; files EEO-1 annually; maintains other records, reports, and logs to conform to EEO regulations; assists in investigating and responding to employee complaints and EEOC charges and representing company in hearings.

Stays current on recent federal, state and local employment law changes and monitors labor law updates and newsletters for changes that affect HR.

Performance Management & Organization Development

Coordinates the implementation of performance appraisal programs; maintains review calendar, and directs the distribution of the forms to supervisory personnel.

Recommends and implements employee involvement and performance improvement programs.

Administers exit interviews, monitors findings, recommends changes and evaluates effectiveness.

Coordinates and implements employee surveys; recommends and implements remedial changes.

Recommends and coordinates incentive and recognition programs.

Training and Development

Conducts needs assessment, and assist in the development of training curriculum.

Implements, oversees and monitors the effectiveness of terminal wide training initiatives.

Conducts training sessions on various HR topics.

Conducts new employee orientation programs.

Employee Relations and Communications

Provides advice and counsel on personnel issues.

Investigates and coordinates the resolution of employee issues and conflicts.

Fosters and maintains a Pro Company environment through communication, supervisory awareness training, employee decisions,

Facilitates effective and timely communication between all levels of employees.

Safety & Security

Coordinates safety programs; monitors workers' compensation claims and coordinates work between employee and insurance carrier.

 

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:

Bachelor’s Degree in Human Resources or related field.  Advanced Degree a plus

SHRM Certified Senior Professional (SPHR) preferred

7-10 years of previous hands-on HR experience required, 3-5 years in a supervisory/management capacity and in a manufacturing or distribution environment.
