Brynee' Dade Week 2
The division in which I am interning in is the Classification and Salary (CAS) division. CAS is responsible for the reclassification of positions submitted by incumbents or agencies on the incumbents’ behalf. If agencies believe an employee isn’t in the correct classification a request will be sent to CAS for review of the position. The HR Analysts determine whether the incumbent is performing the duties associated with the classification. CAS uses four distinctive methods to analyze under review. These methods include:

· -Classification Method

· -Secretarial Point Factorial System

· -Human Resources/ Personnel

· -Management Classification System

After determining whether to reclassified the position, the HR Analyst writes a study including sections such as background on the position, job analysis, job evaluation, and recommendation. Once the study memorandum is submitted, the HR Analyst updates their decision in Workday and the incumbent and agency is notified. If the incumbent isn’t satisfied with the determination they have the ability to file a grievance. From there the HR Analyst and the incumbent goes to court and a judge decides, based on study memorandum and supporting documentation, if the position should be reclassified.
