Hi everybody,

A couple of weeks ago I started my practicum at the Canton Group, a small
IT firm based in Baltimore. In my time there I will:

1) I will be part of the full cycle of the hiring process: I will help to
create job description, I will use those descriptions as a guideline to
select valuable candidates; I will contact candidates for exploratory
interviews; I will interview candidates with other hiring managers. The
interviews will be structured and work samples will be administered.

2) I will assist in the improvement and of a performance management
process. The Canton Group is a small company and is just now introducing
some form of performance management. Lou and I will collaborate to improve
and further develop what he has done so far. My role will be to review the
draft of the project and find areas of improvement. I will also be looking
for what kind of training is needed to make sure that managers and
employees approach the process constructively. This is going to be probably
the most difficult part of the project, since there is already some
resistance from management.

3) I will develop, distribute, and analyze a job satisfaction and
engagement survey, and I will make recommendations based on the findings.

Enjoy your Sunday,
Zeno
