Description:
Customs and Border Protection is currently soliciting students for full
and part-time Personnel Research Psychologist (Student Trainee)
positions in the Personnel Research and Development Division (PRAD),
located in Washington, DC.
These positions are being filled through the Student Career Experience
Program (SCEP) in the excepted service at the GS-7 grade level
($18.04/Hour) and GS-9 grade level ($22.06/Hour). The SCEP program is
designed to provide you with work experience directly related to your
academic studies while preparing you for possible non-competitive
conversion into a permanent position with the Federal government
following completion of all academic and work requirements. This
position is open to students enrolled or accepted for enrollment in an
accredited educational institution taking at least a half-time academic
course load.

About Your Career...
During this program, you will be exposed to a variety of developmental
assignments within the PRAD Division. You will be trained in all phases
of the research process, including problem definition, planning,
execution, analysis, interpretation and reporting of results. Projects
address problems in human resource management and may be individual or
segments of larger, longitudinal studies. Student duties may include,
but are not limited to, planning surveys of a defined population to
determine attitudes, job skills, knowledge, abilities, and other
characteristics and reactions to alternate forms of social or
occupational organization. In addition, you will conduct studies to
determine the predictive effectiveness of existing tests for specific
occupations.
Qualifications Requirements...
You must have successfully completed a full 4-year course of study in an
accredited college or university leading to a bachelor's or higher
degree that included a major or equivalent in psychology.
GS-7: You qualify at the GS-7 level if you meet the basic requirements
as described above AND enrolled or accepted for enrollment in an
accredited educational institution taking at least a half-time academic
course load in a curriculum directly related to Industrial
Organizational Psychology.
GS-9: You qualify at the GS-9 level if you meet the basic requirements
as described above. In addition, you must have completed at least two
years of progressively higher-level graduate education leading to a PhD
in a curriculum directly related to Industrial Organizational
Psychology.

regular Federal government employees receive. They include: Annual
