Platform Lead-Human Factors Engineering
Job Responsibilities:
¨ Lead a team of diverse professionals for the design, development and testing of air vehicle operator and maintainer interfaces. This includes aircrew station geometry and layout of controls and displays, software interfaces for glass cockpit displays, and hardware interfaces for seats, panels, and flight controls.
¨ Responsible for the analysis and integration of all aircraft components to support maintainer tasks.
¨ Evaluate and test crew station design and layout using physical mockups, electronic mockups, man-in-the-loop simulations, system integration laboratories and aircraft.
¨ Responsible for planning, budget and technical execution of human factors efforts for an entire aircraft platform.
¨ Serve as control account manager (CAM) with cost and schedule performance analysis and status reporting.
Education:
¨ BA/BS degree w/10+ years experience or * MA/MS degree w/7+ years experience or * PhD degree w/4+ years experience
Degree should be in Human Factors, Experimental Psychology, Industrial Design, Industrial Engineering, or equivalent with Human Factors coursework.
Experience/Qualifications:
¨ Excellent communication and presentation skills are required.
¨ Experience managing and directing a team of engineers is required.
¨ Strong interpersonal skills, with emphasis on flexibility and diplomacy, are required for operating within a multi-discipline Integrated Product Team (IPT) environment.
Experience in the following is highly desirable:
¨ Military aviation (helicopters in particular); experience in civil aviation is a plus.
¨ HMI design and evaluation in complex systems (military systems in particular)
¨ Earned Value Management System (EVMS)
¨ 3-D modeling tools (e.g. CATIA, Pro-Engineer) or human modeling tools (e.g. Jack, DELMIA) * Anthropometric measurement, workload, lighting, maintenance * MS Office suite software
